In support of their previous commitment to Friends of the Earth, Radiohead will be playing a green performance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien on Wednesday (April23).

We reported a few weeks ago that they would rather commute to their venues rather than ride on big buses that increase traffic and smoke emissions. Now, instead of riding an airplane to New York City to play one song for one night only, the band has decided to “reduce their carbon footprint”, and just record the performance at their London studio.

They will play House of Cards from the recent In Rainbows album.

If you are, then you’d be pleased as peach to know that they’re ironing out all the details as we speak. An undisclosed major music-oriented television channel has pitched the idea to the singer. According to AllYourTV.com, the show would appear on an unidentified cable channel.

Axl Rose has been sitting on the said album for over a decade, always saying that the album will be put out within a year. For all the GnRs fans sake, let’s hope this new reality-TV show pushes Axl to finally release the album out before China becomes a democratic country.

Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones has a problem with David Bowie, another legendary musical icon: He no likee.

Well, actually, Keith likes one song:

Speaking in this month’s Uncut magazine, Richards said that Changes, which appears on Bowie’s fourth album Hunky Dory, was the only song by the artist that he could remember.

And what about fashion and music?

“It’s all pose. It’s all f*cking posing. It’s nothing to do with music He knows it too,” Richards said.

I can’t think of anything else he’s done that would make my hair stand up.”

Is Radiohead about to go head-to-head with Facebook and Myspace?

Of all the bands out there, Radiohead would probably be the last one you thought would put up a social networking site. The foursome has created a web-based forum called W.A.S.T.E. where fans and non-fans alike can upload and share photos , details, tour dates, and watch videos of various artists.

Radiohead posted a message last April 3 that said:

“For those who are interested and want to stick around, we’ll be adding plenty more bits and pieces in the coming weeks and ironing out any wrinkles or annoyances the best we can. Hope you find something interesting to play with.”

Another Seattle native is the band Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam’s album “Ten” is commonly received as that of Nirvana’s “Nevermind”, the albums which geared their way towards mainstream music of the 1990s alternative. While “Nevermind” was considered to be the greater mainstream mover, Pearl Jam’s “Ten” was in second place. This album won platinum twelve times and is the most successful album of the band.

At the early stages of its career, Pearl Jam has been criticized as a “corporate cash-in”. However, the band had different causes that made it admirable and such causes were the going against “rock star excess”, their public dispute with Ticketmaster, and their rejection of making music videos of their shows. Ultimately, it is very noteworthy that Pearl Jam had outlived many of the members of its generation, considering the problems and issues that came with the success of grunge music.

We guess that most of his fans (specially the lady ones) were glad that his manager was able to get a hold of him before anything bad happened. The bassist has now joined Half of Us: a campaign organized by Jed Foundation. Some of the artist joining this campaign are Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkin‘s fame and Mary J. Blige.

Regarding public transport, Thom would like to implement the Paris Velib system. It’s where anyone can borrow bicycles to go around town. Obviously this will lessen the carbon monoxide in the air and traffic around London.

You know it’s bad when the lead singer of your band is telling the audience that this maybe your last tour with him. Yep, that’s what happened the other night at Glasgow, Scotland, when super-group, Velvet Revolver was strutting their stuff on stage. According to singer Scott Weiland, the audience were …watching something special… the last tour by Velvet Revolver. This made all the band mates look confused on-stage before going into their next set.

Was it the drugs talking or was it Weiland wanting to join up his old mates at Stone Temple Pilots? Well the other band mates can always do a Guns and Roses reunion themselves. If it happens, we just hope everyone gets what they need.

Dashboard Confessional fans found Dusk and Summer a wee bit disappointing and since then, there is much talk and anticipation about the band’s next album. It has been going around that Chris Carrabba was to gear back to their earlier style, which is more intimate. Indeed, The Shade of Poison Trees does seem to satisfy the standards. However, affectation is still met when the whole collection has been listened to. Nevertheless, producer Don Gilmore gave full trust to Carrabba and the rest of the band and allowed each of their hidden selves to shine through in this album.

“Fever Dreams” and “Where There’s Gold…” is perfect for the fans of the older Dashboard style and shall fulfill their listening pleasure once more as the two songs carry their signature acoustic instrumentation and sing along choruses that resemble those around the campfire. Indeed, Dashboard Confessional has come back home to cheer their loyal listeners yet again.
